Cyber Security and Resilience Community (CriSys) Community
Welcome to CriSys, the Cyber Security and Resilience Community of the King Abdullah
University of Science and Technology (KAUST), dedicated to propelling the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia (KSA) towards a sovereign, secure and prosperous digital future, through
its RDI&T (research, development, innovation and training) strategy.
CriSys builds upon the strong foundation laid by the RC3 (Resilient Computing and Cybersecurity Center), during the past three years (2021-2023). RC3’s mission was to implement a strategic RT&D (research, training and development) program, fostering a critical mass of know-how and players in cyber security and resilience, within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). CriSys takes these achievements a step further. By establishing an ambitious strategic research program, CriSys is committed to a four- pronged mission:
- Spearheading groundbreaking, long-term research in cyber security and resilience (CSR).
- Driving regional technological and societal advancements, solidifying KSA’s position as a leader in CSR.
- Confirming KAUST as a globally renowned hub for CSR through impactful research, education, and innovation.
- Safeguarding and promoting the KSA’s digital sovereignty for the long term.
Outline of our 45 Degree Impact Acceleration RDI&T Strategy
- Anticipating needs for some high-TRL key verticals critical to KSA society.
- Reconciling them with low-TRL horizontal research topics enabling solutions for them. These will form our research lines.
- Creating a project ecosystem leading to a soft (“45º”) translation timeline, maximizing early impact.
- In essence, CriSys focuses on translating cutting-edge Research into Developing practical and Innovative solutions across various sectors.
- Not forgetting the interpreters of this transformation: accelerating social impact by Training an elite of CSR professional technical leaders.
